Michigan City Promise Scholarship Exceptions Committee

The Michigan City Promise Scholarship Exceptions Committee consists of up to five members, appointed to two-year terms. Two members are appointed by the Mayor, one member is appointed by City Council, one member is appointed by the Michigan City Area Schools, and one is appointed by Michigan City Economic Development Council. No salary is paid to appointees for sitting on this board.

Duties and responsibilities: Any person aggrieved by the implementation of the scholarship programs requirements or desiring to appeal a decision of the director, shall, within 15 days of the occurrence of the reason for the grievance or the decision of the director being appealed, submit a written request to the director asking to be heard by the committee. In addition, the committee is responsible for hearing any requests for exceptions to the scholarship program. Those requests must also be submitted to the director in writing.
