Washington Park opens at 5 am and closes at 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday.
- The speed limit is 5 mph
- Glass of any kind, containers or otherwise, is strictly prohibited
- No alcoholic beverages permitted within 50’ of roadways or parking lots
- Pets are not allowed in the park. Service animals are welcome.
- No overnight parking or camping
- No littering
- No ground fires. Charcoal or wood-fired grills are permitted in lawn areas only. Only non-charcoal (propane) portable grills are allowed on the beach.
- Hunting is prohibited on all park property
- Picnic shelter rentals and parking passes are available at the park office (219) 873-1506
- No motorized vehicles except in designated parking areas
- No metal detectors on grass
- Noise ordinance enforced
- No skateboarding except in designated areas
- Fireworks are strictly prohibited
BOUNCY HOUSES, LAND BASED INFLATABLES (SUCH AS OBSTACLE COURSES), AND THE LIKE, ARE NOT PERMITTED IN WASHINGTON PARK, ON THE BEACH, OR ON ANY PARK OR CITY PROPERTY. Water inflatables, such as rafts, are permitted outside of the lifeguarded swimming area only.
