The Personnel Department of Michigan City is dedicated to supporting both city employees and the community by ensuring fair, equitable, and inclusive practices in all areas of employment and civic engagement. Combining the functions of Human Resources and Human Rights, this department oversees hiring, employee relations, and policy administration while also upholding the city’s commitment to diversity, equity, and civil rights.

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Notice
Eligible employees may take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave for family or medical reasons under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). To qualify, employees must have worked for the company for at least 12 months and logged 1,250 hours in the past year.
