Preliminary Notice of Data Event
City of Michigan City, Indiana
The City of Michigan City (“City”) is providing preliminary public notice regarding a recent data event. While there is no evidence of any misuse of personal information, we take the privacy and security of our employee and citizen information very seriously.
On September 23, 2025, the City experienced a disruption to its computer network. We took immediate action to secure our systems by taking the network offline out of an abundance of caution. We partnered with cybersecurity specialists to safely restore operations and investigate the nature and scope of the event.
On September 28, 2025, the investigation determined that certain data had been accessed or acquired. The City is reviewing the data to identify what information may have been affected. Once that review is complete, formal notifications will be sent to any impacted individuals.
