The City of Michigan City is committed to providing equal access to its services, programs, activities, and facilities for individuals with disabilities. This page includes the City’s official ADA notice, ADA Coordinator contact information, grievance procedure, and related forms.
Notice Under the Americans with Disabilities Act
In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”), the City of Michigan City will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs or activities.
Filing an ADA Grievance
Anyone who believes a City service, program, activity, or facility is not accessible may submit an ADA grievance to the City’s ADA Coordinator. Complete the ADA Grievance Form and follow the instructions provided in the City’s grievance procedure.
Alternative filing methods are available upon request for individuals who are unable to submit a written grievance because of a disability.
Request for Review of a Decision
Anyone who disagrees with the ADA Coordinator’s decision may request a review by the Board of Public Works and Safety. The request must be submitted to the Michigan City Clerk’s Office within 15 calendar days of receiving the ADA Coordinator’s response.
Alternative submission methods, including a personal interview or audio recording, are available upon request through the Clerk’s Office.
