Interested in starting a career in skilled trades? With the help of The Indiana Plan, Michigan City residents can now receive guidance on the necessary steps to kickstart a successful career.
Michigan City will be hosting an Informational Open House meeting in the EOC room (Lower Level City Hall) on May 12th at 5pm.
The Indiana Plan works directly with unions & contractors to meet the demand for skilled labor.
Participating union building trades generally share the following requirements:
Must be 18 years old.
High school diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma (formerly GED).
Valid Indiana driver’s license.
Ability to pass drug screening.
9th-grade math and reading levels based on test of adult basic education (TABE).
Applicants with felonies are welcome.
